Born and raised in the U.S., Michael developed an interest in art at an early age. After completing his art education at Indiana State University, Michael pursued other career opportunities. However, in 2002, he began working as a professional artist in Copenhagen, Denmark where he has resided for the past 25 years.

Michael's work is strongly influenced by the Photorealist movement which began in New York City during the mid-1960's. He is particularly inspired by Photorealists such as Richard Estes, Tom Blackwell and Ralph Goings, who are among the 13 original Photorealist artists.
